Hi,
I'm thinking of going to Tignes December 29th-11th January (doesnt look like I can make the PSB  ) is it gonna be rammed over new year or do people go for christmas then home for new year?

New Year is busier than Christmas but it's not too bad. After the 1st, it will be empty again as the locals go back to work.
I'll be there this year.

In my experience, the New Year week is much MUCH busier than Christmas week. A lot depends on snow conditions at the other Tarantaise resorts though - if the snow is poor lower down then everyone tries to cram into ValDiz, Tignes and ValT.

@fredbob, They tend to be at home over Christmas then go skiing at New Year. New Year week is one if not the busiest week of the season. The week after is one of the quietest.

What dates do you count as new year week?
New years day falls on a Tuesday so do you think it will quieten down then or not until the following weekend?

The pistes will be busy from Sunday to Friday. New Year day, Tuesday, itself will probably be a bit quieter.

It will be freezing cold, windy, icy, dark early, and overcrowded with rude folks barging the liftlines.
But some sparkly Xmas lights and fireworks will make it all good again.

The planning in the hotel im working in shows a full house till 05/01, then, more than half of the rooms are empty.
So you can expect there to be a lot of people in the first week and then have a nice, spacy slope for the second.

Tignes has so much uplift capacity that Tignes at New Year is infinitely preferable to La Plagne in the middle of March.
