Looking at solo trip this year with some proper instruction. I’m an ok intermediate confident on reds and can bodge my way down easier blacks. Any suggestions?

I went with Inside Out last season as a solo, and even opted to share a room to really throw myself in at the deep end... not only was the course excellent, but I met some GREAT people that I’ve kept in touch with and will be skiing with again. I’d thoroughly recommend it!

I have done solo with Snowcoach a number of times over the past few years. They do ski guiding and communal dinning on large tables so it is very easy to get to know others. Solo supplement was £100 last time I looked, which they don't charge if you agree to share. I have always agreed to share but going out side half term, I have never had to, so £100 saved.
They have two hotels, one in Valmeinier and the other in St. Gervais I haven't been to St. Gervais for many years now so I can not comment on it, but I have been to Valmeinier 4 times out of the last 5 years and it was all very acceptable to me.
Of course the ski guides can not give you any instruction (as we know, in France this is against the law) but you could sign up to advanced classes at the local ski school. Ski school meet up is only 25 m walk from hotel. However, Snowcoach's guides I have been with have all been very experienced skiers and most have had advanced qualifications of some sort and they have been willing to pass on advice if asked. Depending on the abilities of the group and the conditions, we have always skied all the colours. A gentler run is always available along side the Blacks so we are not limited by the more cautious skiers.
You have options for travel but I always take the coach. Got to be £200 or so cheaper than flying or train and much less hassle. Park up for the week at pick up point carpark in Watford just off M1, Friday afternoon, sling kit onto coach and get comfy, wake up next morning in resort if traffic ok, in time for breakfast and on the snow by half way through the morning. Eight (!) days of skiing, travelling back following Saturday night. Home Sunday afternoon. Very easy trip for me along the M1 from the midlands. If you are the other side of London you could meet the coach at Dover or one of the Motorway services pickup points.
Not the poshest of hotels but it is a skiing hotel and the staff are very enthusiastic. Staff very helpful to me a couple of years ago when I suffered a broken arm. And the medical centre is only 50 metre away from the hotel. You don't think about such things until you need them!

I've gone with Snoworks on account of them having a course on the right date. Gone for the All Terrain.
