Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anybody stayed at the hotels around Reims Tinqueux? Novotel, Ibis, etc?
Which is best value for money, most secure, easiest access, food available on site or nearby?
Just me & a car loaded with ski kit for 4 so want to be safe

F1 was fine and had the usual fenced car park etc. Just round the corner from an Ibis and Novotel depending on your budget and a Courtpaille grill in the IBIS IIRC.

Stayed in the Ibis last Friday and back this Thursday. Easy access and quite popular. Lots of food outlets close by including a large Carrefour if you don't want to eat in the hotels. Visit coincided with a classic car rally so lots of expensive cars parked up for the night. Ibis was a lot cheaper than the Novotel but was basically a bed and a bathroom.

We have stayed at the Novotel a few times (seemed to have bigger family rooms for 2 adults + 2 children) - it has a fenced car park with an electric gate. From memory, more expensive than F1, but the restaurant was fine for both dinner and an early breakfast and the rooms were fairly quiet.

We did make the mistake one year of assuming that they would have rooms available and ended up sleeping in the car for a couple of cold hours at a service station ...

The Accor hotels are as you would expect, Novotel, largest rooms en-suite, pretentious restaurant, best breakfast. Ibis, comfortable room en-suite, good breakfast, Courtpaille restaurant. FI basic small room, basic but adequate breakfast.

Novotel and Ibis are in same compound. If you think about eating at Courtpaille then it is worth signing up to their mailing list as there is usually a discount promotion most months. We've never paid full price in a Courtpaille. They are also in easy walk of the Carrefour which also has some food outlets and a McDonalds, if you call that food.

Several other good budget hotels in the area. Personally we prefer the Ibis as the compromise between all the factors although occasionally Accor put on a promotion for the Novotel.

We have always felt safe in the Ibis/Novotel compound.

It's an ideal stop over, quite a few hotels to choose from as well as a large local supermarket on hand for stocking up with provisions for the week(s) ahead.

It's probably our destination in Feb.

We've stayed in the Mercure at Cathedral in Riems. It's a nice hotel with good parking and is pretty much on the road south out to the autoroute. The restaurant was really nice.

We use the HotelBB in Bezannes as it has a secure car park and is clean and cheap but better than F1 and does a decent breakfast. It's also in the vicinity to a hypermarket with cheap fuel (and restaurant) and also on the end of the tram line if you did want to go into Reims. It's about 2 minutes from the Motorway.

Have stayed in the Ibis Budget a few times. Restaurants nearby, better breakfast than F1 and a lift to get your luggage into the room.

We use the Novotel at Tinqueux as are a family of four so can squeeze in one room and I prefer the onsite restaurant at the Novotel. I am not a fan of courte paille. The Novotel carpark is reasonably secure. I would not book f1 as no ensuite bathroom/ too basic. Unless you want to visit Reims it is better staying in Tinqueux as it it is close to the autoroute.

@ajc2260626, that was the one I was trying to think of. I've been told there's a decent restaurant nearby too. We're staying in Reims centre on our next trip, as the Christmas market will be on.

That's what gets me about these out-of-town, industrial estate places, I don't go to France to eat microwave meals. I don't do it at home, so why would I do it on holiday?

We only have the breakies and that’s really good choice and value, it’s just a good stop over hotel rather than a destination hotel, they have some dog friendly rooms too
