Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Spent a week on the Aurora based out of Isafjordur.
Anchor up. Zodiac to shore. Skins on. Skin up. Ski down to next fjord. Back onto yacht.
Fantastic time.
Proper back country, and a skinny dip in 4 degrees water to end.
The very short night meant we were skiing until late. Perfect.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@ChrisKernow
, looks like an amazing experience. How much vert each day? I presume the level of fitness and standard of skier was fairly high.
Curious why you chose Iceland over the Norwegian fjords (unless you’ve done that before?).

The mountains plateau at about 600m but we did 2 or 3 skin ups each day.
The issue with Norway is that in April the snow line means you usually have to boot pack from the waters edge. With the western fjords in Iceland there is usually a strip of snow to the waters edge.
Also Iceland is less "done" than Norway.
Regarding fitness, I was the 2nd oldest at 50, but there was a 67 yr old Canadian too. I am not that fit and about 100kgs and like a cigarette on the way up, but I had done a whole season in France before going.
