Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can anyone recommend good quality salopettes suitable for ski touring, light, vent zips goretex etc, but with short leg options? Most of the brands seem to have one leg length roughly proportional to waist size.

have a look at lancashire sport repairs , they do a great job of professionally shortening goretex gear , which greatly increases your choice of salopettes
one short leg option that i have is

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

One of the popular german brands schoffel does short leg options you may be lucky on sale at the big chains into this May or you may not be .
For a average 1-3 week trip per season on sale they will be a good option if the fit is right of course .
Some thigh diameters can be too tight depends on the person .
Arcteryx does the Procline FL soft shell in a short leg but the Alpha AR gtx in std lenght is a good ( goretex touring) pant even though it will be 2-3cm too long its light so any excess just sits on you boots and is not a issue .
With full zips and removable narrow/thin/light suspenders also inner leg ties
Haglofs will do some but out of the three brands above schoffel is easier to find and try on and the Std lenght Arcteryx alpha AR.
