Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Season Advice

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Firstly I trust everyone is well in these terrible times!
Having had my last 2 weeks skiing sadly cancelled, like I am sure many forum members, and while stuck indoors I am turning my attention to next season...staying positive there will be one!!!
Simply put, I am thinking of doing a few months skiing from probably mid January until end of March likely in the Espace Killy or other nearby high altitude French resorts.
Not interested in seasonaire work, bunk rooms/ hostels etc. but need to be sensible about costs - basically nothing too fancy but needs to be decent... Would welcome any thoughts about where to stay (down valley or in resort), types of accommodation available for such periods and booking agents/ websites etc. etc. as having had a very brief look this season there seemed little available.
Finally, my apologies if this topic has been covered many times before but I am a relatively new member and have not seen anything relevant to date. Thanks in advance!!

I do not generally do advertising, and I am not affiliated and have never used this service. I have investigated the possibility prior to buying a second hand van and converting it. They do season lets, which would cover most of the period and might be cheaper than other methods depending on what you opt for. I am not sure that camping in vans is something which is encouraged these days, it was not that popular 15 years ago either. (lots of signs saying no campervans, particularly in Italy and Austria)

@ADD, it was a few years ago but I did something similar in paradiski - a few pointers here, although perhaps a bit outdated (phone and internet)

@bertie bassett, I have not read this, it was interesting. Particularly in relation to costs. I would say buying a van and travelling over a few years might have similar overall costs to doing a season. (depending on the van and if you resell it) The difference is that you get to see many more different resorts, you do not get to know many people in resorts, and you are pretty much always on your own. (excepting when you are not due to evening entertainment)

It really depends on how much you need/want the company of other people. The younger you are the more suited to working in resort, and the more friends you will make. As you get older you are better off on your own or in your fixed group or other travellers.

These links relate to my experiences in a campervan visiting many European resorts and elsewhere. Mostly regarding the period 2003-2006 although some of the descriptions are more up to date.
