I think I am going to need a new pair of skis. My carving skis are not going to cut it where I am. Over 50 cm of snow lying at the base of Ben Ledi. (on the drive) and it is still falling. I am hoping the winds will reduce soon, and the sun will come out.
That was December, it is going to be heaven on the back of the hill now. If only the conditions would allow a climb! (the back of the hill in my language is to the left of the view, the front being to the right)

@BobinCH, that was in little old Monetier, last village in the Serre Che valley.
Don't think LG was open today according to a message from my Viking friends

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Weathercam, cool. I think that’s where we skied last year when the LG lift didn’t open. Looks like you’ve got the run of the conditions at the mo. Alas unlikely I’ll get over there until April but with this amazing base hopefully there are some spicy lines open for business 😉

This is the back side of Ben Ledi in December 2017. I have skied down it in 2010 when the weather in Scotland was last like it is now. Unfortunately, once you ski down you have to get back up and that requires a climb. Trudging through 1m drifts of snow is quite tricky (it gets filled at the bottem due to the wind) There is a path at the bottem, which takes you up a wind blown edge of the mountain which is easier to climb in deep snow.
The forecast unfortunately is for more snow and sub zero temperatures. So there is not much opportunity to climb it safely in nice weather until mid March. I am patient though!
The sun shines brightly on this side, as it is south facing. So it is even better on a sunny day! (but you really sweat some on the way back up so plenty of water required)
