Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

My boots are about 10 years old - shells still look fine, very little wear to the base plates however the past couple of holidays I have found that as the week progresses my feet start to move around in my boots resulting in my having to tighten them up more and ending up with cold and painful feet.
Would getting new inners solve this and do I need to find specific ones or would a generic replacement work?

I'd say the chances are the boot liners are starting to pack out a bit too much (as you suspect).
If you're ending up having to over tighten the boots to get a decent fit then your boots might well be a little bit on the large size. I don't know if you had them fitted or not and what find of 'fit' you went for but a typical 'comfort' fit will end up feeling loose after a few years use.
Given that 10 years is probably a realistic lifetime for boots (the plastic will tend to stiffen and become more brittle after that) I'd probably think about buying a new pair of boots rather than trying to go down the new liners route.
I'm in the same situation as you and will almost certainly go down the new boots route. I just need to overcome the feeling that it's a shame to ditch what seems like a perfectly good pair of boots.

What he said! ^
There are good/great after-market liners, eg Zipfit, Intuition, and various foam liners, but putting them into 10 year shells does not seem to make good sense.
If you really must do it, then perhaps get a good boot fitter to check out the shell size. If it is too big (quite possible l) then new liners would be a waste of money.
