Poster: A snowHead

This year in Crested Butte, my Daughter had a more miserable time with her Raynauds, than usual...and meds made her feel ill.
For next year, I think she needs something that heats up...which is where I remember Under a New Name, recommending the above....so I have a few questions for UANN and anyone else who uses them.
- Can they work with any Gloves/Mitts. ie. How thick...do they need a larger fitting Glove/Mitt
- Do they run true to size
- Are they fairly robust
- How long does a charge last ie. Full heat / Background heat
- Do the batteries feel annoying when inserted into their pouch
- How often do the batteries need replaced
- Does the Company give good customer service
- Are there any downsides
Many thanks in advance for any insight.

@Old Fartbag, hi there, if you can wait till I am on a proper keyboard i will answer at length but short answer is that Mrs UANN is delighted and they are 4-5 years in now at about 60 ski days a year...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@under a new name, Thx; much appreciated...and of course I can wait. It sounds like exactly what she needs, as she loves her Hestra Heli Mitts.

Mrs Doc loved her pair, until this year's trip when she realised that they don't work so well if you leave one of them at home!
I bought them years ago and no doubt they've changed a bit since then, I do remember buying an extra set of batteries because they wouldn't go a full day on the highest heat setting, though you'd only need to use the highest in extreme conditions.
Mrs Doc wears her's in mittens - you'd struggle to get a tight pair of gloves over them. They'rea great job - buy them, then worry what to put on over them.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

- Can they work with any Gloves/Mitts. ie. How thick...do they need a larger fitting Glove/Mitt {Mrs U has hers under Hestra Army Mitts. She'd like similar but gloves for spring use. Key thing is a large enough gauntlet to cover the batteries. Short cuff gloves wouldn't work for her (and she'll probs get men's gloves as the cuffs seem longer. I don't think she went up a size}.
- Do they run true to size {to the limited extent that you had S/M or L, she fins the S/M fit fine (they may have changed the sizing)}
- Are they fairly robust {Seem to be. She uses hers every ski day and they have done >200 at least so far (replaced FOC once, about 3 years ago I think)}
- How long does a charge last ie. Full heat / Background heat {she has 3 sets of batteries, but would only use all 3 if on a 08H00-17H00 day in bitter weather} two gets through most days. One almost certainly not enough}
- Do the batteries feel annoying when inserted into their pouch àshe hasn't said anything and I expect she would}
- How often do the batteries need replaced {no idea, I'm expecting sort of normal 500-1,000 LiIon cycle ranges}
- Does the Company give good customer service {to date, in our experience, it's been excellent}
- Are there any downsides {not that we've noticed}

@Old Fartbag, my Mrs has it and struggles finding gloves that are warm enough, but we read somewhere that Raynauds symptoms are caused by the veins in the wrists contracting and not allowing enough blood to flow through, so she bought some fleece wristies and that solved the problem. They keep the wrist warm and keep the blood flowing to her hands.

Thank you all for your thoughts, and in particular under a new name, for his detailed answer.

I have Raynaulds and my fingers can be cold (and go white at the ends) even when I am warm...
I bought a set of the blazewear liners + one set of batteries before Christmas and used them in -15C temps in France.
Size came fine (they give you advice when ordering to measure your hand) - fit just about OK under my Reusch mitts although movement is slightly restricted.
Worked really well - I have tried a little hottie before in each mitt but that gets my palms warm but does not really help my fingertips...
You really do need a second (at least) set of batteries though as I found I needed them on full blast to really work in the temps we had - and they lasted maybe 2 hours (and this was with switching them off when actually skiing/ warm).
Maybe I need to use them a bit smarter , only turn on when fingers are really getting cold - I maybe let them stay on too long in hindsight...
I have ordered a spare set of batteries nonetheless.
