Poster: A snowHead

Anyone else find it strange that with only a few weeks to go Team GB has yet to pick anyone for Alpine skiing, SnowBoard and FreeStyle. Gotta be nerve-racking for the likes of Dave R and Emily S....

FIS quota list was published on Monday as the last qualifying competitions were on Sunday. Selections done and athletes informed. Should be press release tomorrow (Thursday).
The FIS/IOC criteria are on the FIS website and GBR criteria on BSS.

Shame Madi Rowlands knee injury means she won't be going to Korea, but its good to see Emily Sarsfield made the selection this time around - she deserved to go last time...

Selections are usually done this close to events, sometimes even closer. It gives everyone the chance to meet criteria. The qualification period started on 1st July 2016 so all the athletes of every nation knew what they were working towards and had the max time to get there. Great that GBR has the biggest snowsports team ever. Good luck to them all.... I'll be watching the live links, especially for the Freestyle events.

Interesting to see that there are a fair few more freestyle skiers than boarders.

Just looking through facebook at the official photos of the team... don't know that the photographer told them to get the expressions... must've been something like "now imagine you've just been told your flight is delayed by 3 hours... PERFECT!"

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

No snowboarders in half pipe (5 skiers).

Have been extraordinarily fortunate enough to go through the selection process with my daughter for a summer discipline. Team tends only to be announced very late on in the process due to number of factors, not the least of which is the risk of injury. When competing at this level you wouldn't believe how common it is to get injured. Once you've made your announcement and stood the training partner(s) you can't go back.

You know it makes sense.

All 4 of our Alpine skiers are tech racers. Hope that by the next Olympics we have some downhill/super G people in too. (I don't care if they don't win, I just want someone to cheer on! .)

+2 on Emily, junior 1 and 2 had a morning ski lesson/session with her a couple of years ago both loved it.
