Poster: A snowHead

The col du Lauteret between Serre Chevalier and Grenoble is currently closed due to high winds and fresh snow. 110 people have been rescued from their cars by tracked vehicles sent by the Gendarmerie. The col de Montets between Chamonix and Switzerland was closed on Saturday by an avalanche but should now be reopen.
Worth checking the driving conditions before you set out up until Thursday.

Oh er, you might like to ask your local police to make some inquiries. All the people who were stuck have been put up for the night and offered a nice mug of tea.

davidof, I live a few hundred metres from the road you mention and untill next morning I'm stranded in my house. There is nearly a metre of fresh snow in the garden and it's still snowing hard.
Pete, I went skiing yesterday here but 75 per cent was closed for fear of avalanche! If it does stop snowing tomorrow it will definately be..... waaahhhoooo!
Helen, conditions weren't too bad this morning, so I guess your guests would have been fine.

Guys, guests may have left OK this morning (around 11pm), but the new ones were getting to Grenoble airport around 9.30, so i guess it's likely they may have been affected, esp as they hadnt arrived by 5pm.

Helen, they were lucky they got through from Gap too as they closed the ramp between l'Argentiere la Bessée and Briançon for a while.
We had guests who were at Torino (Pinerolo) for the curling yesterday and didn't get back to us until 5am this morning...bit of an epic!!!!
It's Christmas card perfect out there!
