Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for info on how to set up the height of the AFD pad under the toe of the boot. New bindings on new skis.

Any help appreciated, Ta G.

Same as any other binding with a height adjustable AFD - use a 0.5mm feeler gauge between the boot and the AFD. It's detailed in the instructions that come with the bindings rolling eyes Toofy Grin

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@spyderjon, No technical info arrived with them. Just the most simplistic, multi language guide on how to step into the bindings.

You can use a simpler method a ski tech has shown me if you don't have a feeler gauge or the weird paper/sticky things I have seen some techs use. Simply stick a strip of paper (stuff you write on) between the boot and AFD. If you can pull the paper out with some resistance then the setting is about right. If it won't move then it's too tight and obviously if it pulls easily you need to tighten.

Realise this is a bit ad-hoc but it's certainly better than trying to judge it by feel.

@interpaul, I was just writing about that as you posted. My only worry was that I'm working everyday now until our next trip and running out of time. Otherwise I would have called into a local shop for a binding check

Jon triggered my curiosity enough for me to go and rummage through the packaging in case I'd missed something. Didn't find any instructions, just a couple of self adhesive labels. They're about 40mm square and have a picture of a grippy soled boot with TOURING DIN-ISO 9523 written underneath. Looks like these may have been zip-locked to the bindings.

I have the same bindings, they came with a " special" piece of paper to use as a feeler gauge.

Okay. Internet is acting up now so I have to resort to my phone. A quick RTFM Update.
So the wee stickers are to identify that the skis are set up with increased clearance for touring bindings and are likely to be off like a couple of bars of soap if you step in with your Alpine boots on.
