Hello all,
I have been trying to find ski pants for the vertically challenged man and am I struggling badly. It has been suggested to try women's ones as they are cut with shorter legs. Just wondering if any other man out there has embraced his inner crossdresser and if so any feed back?

Womens pants tend to be cut closer on the leg so you may find yourself sporting an alarmingly tight pant look and be mistaken for a ESF instructor.
Could you not go for a smaller size in something with a baggier fit?
Or some brands specifically do a 'short' cut leg - know Burton do as I almost bought some by mistake once.

@Dublinfella, e.g. Marmot do some pants in S, M, L ...
Otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it, if they fit.
Jackets maybe more of an issue.

Arcteryx also do some of their ski pants in a short leg. I'd probably go that route and get something cut for a male body.

A friend of mine used to wear ladies Burton snowboarding pants all the time (partly due to buying blind off ebay and realising too late that they were a ladies model).
He never complained about them, the fit was fine and (in a rather upsetting micky taking sense) it didn't effect his ability to be a decent boarder.
Reckon he got 3 good seasons use before the bum gave way.
I say go for it.

If they fit, no-one is going to know unless you tell them, but I think you'll be better trying to find short men's trousers as women are quite different in shape.

i wear lots of womens clothes, i"m 6ft 2 and 15 stone, and i find a size 20 ladies size will do me nicely.

I did a day last year in a pair kindly lent to me by motyl when my bag went missing... they fit great, surprising as she's half my height.
If they fit, go for it!

Well I've borrowed them, as blokes pants tend to be designed for inflated people. I don't remember them being particularly problematic.
For me the issue is that even size "small" is now for large people who want to think they're not.
I eventually found one line of Burton pants cut for athletic people.
I have tried kiddies stuff before now, but the cut isn't right for adults, in my view.

@philwig, You are definitely correct on the down sizing of sizes. I’m a slim 6ft, yet find I can fit in Small sizes for some manufacturers (Arc’teryx for example), where as others I am a medium (Norrona for example).

A skiing associate of mine who is vertically challenged, manages to make good use of youth sizes the fact that he also likes a bargain helps in that he can also avoid the VAT in the UK.

You'll find ladies skiwear somewhat limiting once above a size 16.
Some brands have little toggle things to adjust the length of the trousers. My Picture ones do, the toggle is in the pocket, attaches to a cord running down between liner and outer so I can have them up a little shorter.

@philwig, I am one of those inflated people! That is my issue...apparently all inflated people are also tall people!@Richard_Sideways, I will have a look at the Burton range, thanks.
I'll go have a look. Really looking for quite specific pants....short, v breathable, no insulation, good venting. No hassles really!!

@Dublinfella, Thursday nights are for cross-dressing. For skiing check out Decathlon, the pants with drawstrings to adjust the length work for me.

Generally I'm fine with standard length but some brands are longer but you can get ski pants adjusted. Even gore-tex shells. There are a couple of specialist companies in the UK who will do it. It's not cheap (think I was quoted £40 + postage) but probably worth it if you find some quality pants that you really like otherwise. https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/repair-service/clothing-repairs were the people I considered.
Last year I got some specialist shell pants (arcteryx sabre I think - 60% off on Sport Pursuit) that have a very simple design at the bottom (no poppers, zips apart form on the inner gaiter). I shortened them a bit by folding over the hems, ironing them flat and duct taping all the way around on the inside, then ironing that. Invisible and they have since been washed twice without the tape coming undone.
