Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Weekend break early December

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The MD at work has offered me the chance of a weekend skiing at the start of December, either W/E 2nd or 9th. I had a bit of a look, but it seems all the high resorts are a bit of a pain to get to. Having to fly from Scotland also limits options. Don't seem to be able to do it without a 3 hour drive and when you couple that with the flight duration, faffing at the airport and car hire etc, that seems to add up to 7 or 8 hours each way for a couple of days skiing. Anyone got any miracle suggestions? Cheers.

@scotspikey, If you can fly to Zurich then St Anton and Davos are options. Nice easy train transfers

The later w/e would be the better bet for obvious reasons

If you can fly to Innsbruck-it's an easy hop to Obergurgl-which we did a few years ago for the first weekend in December.
Or...Cervinia with a flight to Turin or Milan?
If you can afford the time and the accommodation-fly to Geneva and get the train up to Zermatt-that bit is a bit of a faff, and you need to fly out early on the morning of one day (not skiing that day), stay 2 nights, ski two days, finishing about 3pm on e second day and then find a late evening flight back home. (Easy for us...we live 15 mins from Gatwick though!)

Tignes will be the only place to be that weekend, use the company jet and helicopter.

Does it really matter if the drive is 1.5 hours or 2.5 hours?

Go where the snow is best.

I think you are pushing it anywhere home/work to European resort in under 7 hours

0.5 to airport
1.0 pre flight
2.0 flight
1.0 faff at other end
2.5+ hrs transfer/drive

That's minimum 7 hours assuming you are close to airport and no delays. It's just about possible to beat it e.g. if you work at Canary Wharf - City Airport - GVA - arrival timed nicely for shuttle van to CHX but even that would be 5-6

Just fly to Innsbruck and stay there. Bunch of resorts within a 15-30 minute drive, most opening on the 2nd (with lots of snow already).

Or fly to Innsbruck and 1 hour transfer to St Anton or Kitzbühel, or 1.5 to Ischgl.
