Only thing is, they're not!
If you go for a quote you still get:
Quote: |
MPI is in the process of changing insurers and as a result this site will be down for updating and maintenance.
You can still access YourMPI account to view your current and older policies, however you won’t be able to obtain a new quote or purchase a policy quite yet, while we amend the site to accommodate the new updated insurance. |
and it has been that way since March.
For sure there is a website and there and links to another insurer but their own badge travel insurance still isn't trading.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Pruman, yep, I went to their website just now and it's exactly as you describe. My current annual MPI policy expires at the end of January, so I hope they're back in business offering their own policies by then.

@Pruman, ah, I hadn't got round to actually doing anything yet. Thanks to you too.

Yes, we checked this evening as a little put out that M hadn’t communicated that they were back in business and it does seem still linked to another company. We got sorted with LV this year but feel loyalty to MPI, they sorted out a very sick four month old grand daughter nine years ago and me when I had a mouldy finger (possible sepsis)

OK.
Had a reply this morning from MPI.
Looks like MPI brokers are still in the process of getting their own agreements in place. In the meantime rather than leaving everyone hanging they have engaged with a like provider. The links on their website direct you to a provided which they feel will meet the majority of MPI customer needs, maintain MPIs values.
I have used PJ Harman previously so years ago (early '0's) without problem (actually without claim),they are travel-specific and have a 'track record'.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Well, I was a bit put out by the 60% increase on my renewal quote from Multitrip, especially as I accepted their renewal last year because they offered to extend the same terms as the pre pandemic policy, in the unlikely event that I would actually be able to get away.
In the event, I'd probably have been better off just letting the policy lapse, and taking out a new one when I actually booked something.
However, the quotes I just got from Travel plus and Voyager plus, as per the links on the MPI site make it look like a bargain price.
I won't mention the ridiculous quote from the other company.
Anybody got any experience of these Companies MPI are currently referring business to?

You know it makes sense.

Good news, they seemed like a good outfit. I got royally shafted by their underwriter as part of a Covid-related claim, but I understand they will be underwritten by someone else now. MPI were refreshingly straightforward to deal with.
I did eventually succeed in my claim with the underwriter after a nearly two year process with the Financial Ombudsman.

As someone who used to provide the emergency medical assistance to MPI customers injured during their ski holidays, I can say with certainty that MPI were an absolute pleasure to work with compared to many other underwriters.
Hopefully a good ski season with some decent snow all round will decrease those accidents! Safe skiing all.

PJ Hayman used to provide the SCGB with their insurance package many moons ago. When my wife had a claim they were superb in sorting and paying up!

Fairly sure I used to do the assistance for PJ Hayman too!
Ski insurance - So many fractured tibia & fibulas, torn ACLs, fractured radius & ulna etc etc. (although I think more injuries per participant came out of night time toboggan trips than skiing or snowboarding!)
Lots of work trying to find 3 seats on flights home for people to keep their legs elevated and plenty of air ambulances for those needing stretchers!
Thankfully head injuries and concussions have reduced considerably since helmets became commonplace!
All good fun. Be safe on the snow all.
