There’s a lot of resorts, some I know very well like Courmayeur, and Pila, others I’ve been to a few times but have only scratched the surface of. Any suggestions for the Monte Rosa area for short tours or freeride lines appreciated.

@jbob, not much help Iknow but there are defo some good books covering Monterosa.
I have an old CD with some tours on which I'll dig out. Hopefully it will still work !

Lots of great runs (including a couple of marked itineraries) off the Punta Indren lift above Gressoney (next valley to Champoluc). The itineraries are shown from 2:15 in this video (in Senior SloMo ) to give you an idea...

@jbob, theres a longer itinerary from the Punta Indren lift than the one in the vid.
After the initial couloir and then a gently sloping snowfield, you come to an obvious sizeable rock crest. Going right leads you back towards the Alagna lifts via the no.15 itinerary on the off-piste map in the thread. However if you hang left you will end up in the valley that eventually leads you to Wold. It was pretty wild with some sliding down a rocky face and then some fun navigation round massive boulders. Across a flat bit towards a mountain hut and then a careful sideslip down a steep path narrower than my skis are long. Then through the woods at the end to end up at the car park near Wold. There is a walk to get back to the bottom lift at Alagna unless you can blag a lift with someone.
About 2,000m of vertical and definitely one of my biggest thrills ever. Go carefully if you decide to try it!

Hi jbob - theres not many secrets really. Skiing around the GStBernard is often quiet most of the places I mention in my programs have numerous areas that see little to zero traffic. Impossible to name them all -your best bet is:
a) hire a guide to bring you and show you - in just the MR freeide area there are several hundred lines possible
b) buy any one of the half dozen or so guide books and go from there
I’ve found this. It’s a rather long link to the Swiss Maps which are free, this is a mobile link. You can get Ski routes to overlay the maps. Some of the maps extend into Italy and France
