Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transport advice - Geneva to Val Thorens

I’ve managed to wangle a week in VT in Feb, so looking at transport options to get me from Geneva to VT. Flying in from Australia, flight is scheduled to land at 18:55. I’ve got one bus option but if the flight is late I’ll be in trouble. Anyone offer any tips of alternative transfers than the buses that might be a little more flexible if the flight runs late and won’t break the bank?

@TomE, Altibus have a scheduled service from Geneva to Val Thorens on a Saturday night leaving at 20:30, the rest of the week the last bus leaves at 19:30 and is 115 euros return, the drivers are usually French speaking.
Bensbus are cheaper and have a later bus out on a Saturday but only have buses on that route on a Saturday and Sunday but will speak English.

Taxis or private transfers aren't cheap but way better than driving at night in the mountains after such a long journey.

Another option is to book a hotel near the airport that night with the option to cancel at the last minute and maybe catch the bus the next morning if you are delayed. Accor hotels have plenty of reasonably priced hotels (Novotel, Ibis, Ibis budget) near the airport that give you the option to cancel up until 14:00 or 18:00 on the day.
