I'm on the Warren Smith moguls course next week and wondered what to wear warmth-wise as I've never been in a fridge.?
Usual trousers and gloves, but what about the top half? I guess there'll be some waiting and some falling over/mogulling.

I usually wear what I'd ski in during spring, salopettes and a softshell jacket with a base layer underneath.

Same here, i also see a lot of people in fleeces without a jacket. Theres no wind chill or rain indoors after all.

I definitely feel the cold in chill factore, much colder than when out and about. There's a lot of standing about, lift line, getting feedback/instruction, waiting your turn & going up the lift. I tend to dress as if I'm heading up a mountain in January & I get cold in there

It's -3 to -4 in there. I have a t shirt base layer, then an old shell jacket with a very light fleece zipped into it.

I wear my cold weather ski wear in chillfactore as I find it very cold in there. There's a lot of standing around but also the slope is too short to ever warm up. At least take an extra warm layer with you and leave it in your locker if you don't need it.

It's pretty cold in there and have to say I feel he cold more in there than I do on the mountain! Don't neglect your hands, I went there last week with the wrong gloves and regretted it!
For Christ's sake please don't repeat what I see there most Saturday mornings.

1 mid to late 30s head to toe in spyder race gear, cat suit, the work. Sporting SL skis, gate guards, the whole 9 yards.
Poor guy couldn't carve, felt embarrassed for him. What a T!T
Second guy, full touring setup, ABS pack, collapsible poles strapped to the side (which he never used!) and snow shovel.
Again couldn't ski for toffee.
Thought It was a joke a few weeks ago, bit it's a regular occurrence.
So moral of the story - dress for the occasion

You might not have the wind chill of the mountain, but you also don't have the warmth of direct sun light. So I tend to wear more layers and thermals in a fridge than I often do outdoors.

Maybe he'd just got all new gear and was test wearing it to make sure it was all sitting properely.

I was there Tuesday, one lad about 18, jacket undone, every single run straight down sitting on his tails, one huge slide at the bottom to stop. Repeat for 2 hours. Looked great fun........

From a gaming perspective that's a very poor play. I would think it much better to turn up in jeans and t-shirt and ride rings around everyone.
Perhaps the gear is more for the cafe than on-slope use?
But it's all good - it doesn't do anyone any harm, keeps the wheels of the industry spinning, and maybe fuels the second-hand market.
Or perhaps they are simply people who come on here wanting to learn a bit of skiing and take all the "safety" advice at face value?

Different age but there is a chap in his 70s who does the indoor races, wears Spyder kit, practices at CFe I think. He only started racing a few years ago and even makes the trip to Braehead for the June race weekend. Nice bloke too, so credit to him I say!

For clothing there is indeed no wind, snow, rain or sun, so insulation and breathability is key. Replacing the outer shell with a sweatshirt does the trick I find.
