Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys, looking for some advice on driving from Zeebrugge to our new apartment at Christmas. We've done the drive many times before but always in the summer and broken the journey usually in a campsite in Troyes. We normally fly in the winter but the apartment is ready soon so we are driving down with a load of furniture. We'll be sailing Hull Zeebrugge so dock around 8am, and we are driving to Thollon Les Memises on the 23rd Dec. Are the roads likely to be packed given that it is the day before the French celebrating Christmas Eve? Obviously doesn't really matter when we arrive but may switch days if it's going to be manic.
We'll be coming back on the 2nd so early start and try and get to Zeebrugge for 5pm which does worry me slightly. 2 of us driving though at least. Thanks!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

23rd is a Saturday which will be packed from much below Paris. The roads will be quiet if you arrive on any other day.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Eek yes that was my worry, I might have a rethink. Christmas here first maybe or book a hotel and do it in 2 days. Thanks!

@AllyK, Almost exact same distance and less traffic if you go via Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, Bern. Whether you'd want to nip through Switzerland with 'a load of furniture' is another matter.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Would I have trouble in Switzerland? All I'd have is a load of Ikea stuff, mainly plates and a table!

You'll need to Register first of course.

1. But you wouldn't be going south of Paris.
2. Keep the receipts from IKEA UK to show that you are only passing through.
