Hi
interested in the views of the collective!
in the market for new back pack, has anyone any views on thie model mentioned in header, from actual use?
Need something with a bit more space than my current BCA 18L, this one seems to fit the bill, it seems the carbon fibre cylinder is a bit lighter than the steel version which will help, unless there are known drawbacks to this?

Very good pack with a very good system. Carbon cylinder noticeably lighter. But go bigger (30L) for nigh on the same price and then just use the excellent compression straps when travelling light. IIRC Tim/snowshepherd stocks them and does great deals for snowHeads.

I agree with @spyderjon, re size. I'm not sure exactly how they measure the volume but my exploding rucksack seems to have included the space the gubbins takes up in the quoted volume.

thats interesting, I had looked at a 30l bag, but was concerned about the "bulk" (depth of bag) being a bit cumbersome!

I just ordered the "ultralight" bag and I'm concerned it may be too big. I guess it depends how much space you want in there, but for me it's just rescue gear so smaller is better. I'd like to have liked the Arc Jet force bags but they're huge and heavy.

Recently bought the very same. Only worn around the house but very solid feel, lighter than most, great fit adjustments, & decent amount of room for sundries. RAS system easy to remove/install with only minimal phaffing.

For reference. In chamonix there is a mammut shop. The guy in there is very helpfull. You can test your bag, he'll show you how to repack it, supply the refill for 10e, plus give it the once over, I bought a carbon cylinder from him and he gave me a refund on the old steel one.
