Mrs endo shall be coming skiing for the first time in Jan. Despite many, many jackets available on line she has a specific request. Black jacket, black false fur trimmed hood, no belt. I'm finding nothing, she's likely to be size small or maybe medium in some brands. She wants it for use back here for dog walking afterwards. Found a perfectly good N FAce at Brighams on offer, but the fur is the wrong colour! Surely I could dye it? Any other suggestions?

I have no idea!!! Mainly cos she knows no better. 3 of us have tried telling her with no luck. May get her to try TNF one at Snozone and just dye the damn fur thing. Not that she will be allowed to ski with that in place.. It has taken me 27 years to get her to agree to try skiing.

Bognor? Or Snow and Rock have loads of furry hoods, but I think your colour scheme may be too specific even for them.
Be careful of high end brands on eBay – a lot will be fakes.

@endoman, make sure the fur is removable from the hood first, then at least you won't ruin the whole jacket!

@Scarlet, Mine was genuine...bought in a spyder store in the US. agreed re removing the fur...first thing I did, then I removed the hood..and not because of dyeing. Spyder fur tends to be real though

@holidayloverxx, sorry, I wasn't suggesting you were selling a fake, just that a lot if the Spyder stuff will be because of the prestige attached to the name. TNF and other well-known brands are just as bad, so best to buy from a known distributer. That they use real fur would be enough for me to avoid them anyway, as fake fur is pretty good these days if that's your thing.

@Scarlet, I have no problem with some fur. I have a trapper hat made from musquash that I bought in desperation in canada when I was freezing...it is known as the rat hat. I rarely wear it now but I would if it was cold enough. no fur...fake or otherwise...on my gear these days. I buy for useage not fashion....apart from a bobble hat bought as a gift...i think it is fake

Bit weird as a vegan to even want to be wearing something that could seem like it came from unnecessary slaughter of an animal no? I suggest you enter into a healthy marital debate with Mrs E and let us know how it turns out

We have purchased the North Face one thank goodness. There is no debating with Mrs Endo! Lessons booked at Chillfactore also, I pity the poor instructor!
