Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I was looking for a beacon on Amazon.de for a friend and found this, which I had never seen before, does not replace a beacon, but seems a bit of a left field idea

Seems to be a giant powder ribbon, 10 metres long......based on finding a person rather than skis?

These don't look like a revolution in avalanche safety even their own website states
"Use at your own risk. We recommend carrying an avalanche transceiver (or beacon), avalanche shovel, avalanche probe and avalanche airbag in addition to find—me!"
Frankly the old (k2) avalanche ball seemed a better idea.

I think this is a bit opportunistic, trying to expand their role into an ‘avalanche rescue’ device?!!?

Haven’t ribbons such as these been around plenty long enough, as an aid to find skis if they become lost in deep snow?
