Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

French ski shop chain will financially support British Ski Team

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The French ski shop chain SkiShop/SkiSet has undertaken to sponsor the British Ski Team (or more generally the Snowsport GB governing body) via a "fixed donation" for every transaction in its shops across the French Alps.

This report from MySnowSports.com, which states that the website is "establishing links with major suppliers of rental equipment, discounted snowsports goods, and ski schools in the northern French Alps".

As reported, the suggestion is that all transactions with customers (French, British, others?) will be valid for these donations, but maybe a MySnowSports editor could clarify that point?

Anyway, this seems a remarkable breakthrough in the entente cordiale!

David Goldsmith, you touch on a current quandary of ours, in that a potential Swiss/Austrian/Norwegian etc client of SkiShop may be actively put off the product if he/she thinks that he will be helping the Brits to beat Hermann Maier! (that'll be the day Very Happy).

Hence the reference to UK customers as opposed to customers in general (in the main explanation of the system). Trying to work out a simple method for a similar donation to go to the ski federation of the customer's choice, but it's complicated Confused.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, these days it's specialise to survive, there's so much competition fro the big groups across most domains Confused

richmond, perish the thought! Very Happy But money is key, the era of the enthusiastic amateur making into the elite is long gone. On that basis the Brits do remarkably well, given all the constraints. Hence this concern raised in DG's thread on the apparent lack of support for freestyle skiing from our Federation. Apparently being good enough to score World Cup points (and thereby achieving the minimum Olympic qualifying standard) in freestyle moguls isn't enough to win over the powers-that-be. Simon Bates isn't on the team for Turin unless he performs a miracle last minute performance in WC moguls this morning in the Czech Republic.

This despite one men's alpine competitor being on the team despite having never scored a World Cup point.

The remarkable thing about freestyler Simon Bates is that he has made it to the top level without any support from the Federation.

PG, Nope, however when asked if they are footworks they seem to prefer to say'yes', than 'no'. I'm not sure what the Pro Shop is. We are known as Mammut Pro Shop, didn't know there was a 'Ski Set Pro Shop'. Little Angel
