Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ROAD TRIP! Swiss Style - Easter

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Last summer we were driving up past Albinen to do some lounging in the thermal baths at Leukerbad, after some stressful climbing. And we saw a tiny single lift, all forlorn in the summer sun. It was nice to imagine the families using it during the winter, using the meadows to the full. And in the winter we passed two clanking tows in Evolene; hosts of tiny ones beginning their first forays on planks. It took me back to the vicious rope tow at the Petit Paradis hotel in Bluche, where we spent many December and January days with my two when they were tiny - cutting their teeth on a slope which had great variation in inclination and gentle runout - with hot chocolate waiting in the restaurant whenever small legs began to fatigue. Long gone now, after a big development on the site - yet so many of the key skiers in the area all reminisced about how it was exactly there that they first learned their trade. So we began to think about a tick list of small lifts, and small resorts. So we started at Christmas - starting with the bigger smaller places, Arolla, Grimentz, Zinal, then Vercorin, Nax, Chandolin... Such a good set of days. Just a totally different feel. Tiny lift pass fees. No queues. But long days - you think the runs are limited, and then at Nax they turn out to be long, beautiful, and full of interesting challenge. Tree lined roller-coasting. Acres of tree-filled off piste stash. Pisteurs and guides who smile, want to talk and let you into powdery secrets. Restaurants with staff who welcome you as if into a family. Now I really want to start on the installations which run the risk of being lost forever. Easter won't be the best time, but we'll simply set off in the early hours and ski where we can. ROAD TRIP!!!

@valais2, always wanted to ski in Evoline. Was there for a day one summer and it looked lovely. If i recall at one point it was on the 4V pass but not for a few years. They have an itinerary that comes out near the L'Etygeon from the Thyon side. Our estate agent said there was proposed lifts to link it to the 4V 15 years ago but nothing came of it.

There are a couple of more areas further up the valley. Have fun and don't forget the TRs
