Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello, I posted this in the weather reports forum but realised there isn't much action in there!

Hello all.

I'm coming to Verbier in a few weeks with a mixed group of skiers and snowboarders and we're looking for a guide for either off or on piste, depending on conditions.

A couple of questions, if I may?

Would a guide be prepared to take a mixed group of skiers and boarders, (4 of each) or would we need separate guides?

Would a guide be prepared to take us for half a day only?

Can anyone recommend a good guide / company?

Any idea on a rough cost?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@Frank Lundy, Do you really want a guide, as in someone qualified to take you on glacial terrain and to use ropes to aid you, or do you want someone to show you and your mates around the place? If the latter a mixed skier/border group could work.

Half a day really doesn't give any scope to give you the sense of the terrain.

Who would work depends on your response to the earlier questions.

A guide for a day would be around 650CHF, likewise a dedicated teacher who can take you on itineraries.

Oh and you did only allow an hour for anyone to pick up your post in the Snow reports forum - chill.

We're probably not up for anything too technical with ropes etc. Probably someone with a bit of local knowledge to take us on the best runs and show us a bit of off piste (conditions / powder permitting) A day is doable if that is all that is on offer.
