Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Head I Speed

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
While watching the Skiing on Telly (mainly Eurosport.de) I can't help noticing how many people are skiing on Head I Speed, I've seen them on the podium in Slalom, GS and Downhill races. They look just like the bog standard 2017 models available from any fine retailer. Photos of Alex Pinturault show him with an older pair like the ones propping up my bookcase.

Are they really bog standard skis? I've never seen so many that do look like they are.

They swap skis in the mixed zone before they do PR - they can be given any model the ski sponsor wants to promote.

For SL particularly they have to give them longer skis so the name is clearly visible on any headshots e.g. Notice that all Fischer skiers at the World Champs seemed to be given Fischer Curvs

@andyrew, In a word, No.

They put 'punter' labels on one-off specialist hand-made skis to induce you/us to buy their brand

@Dave of the Marmottes, all the Fischer guys this season have been holding the skis a specific way (bases to the cameras) to show the Curvs logo.

 Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I don't need inducing to buy Head I Supershape series, they're cracking skis!

Tis also down to the fact not everyone races on their sponsors equipment, Marcel Hirscher users Marker Piston Plates instead of the Atomic bindings.

@andyrew, Point is, those people you see on Eurosport "are skiing on Head I Speed" in the same way as Sebastian Ogier won the World Rally Championship in a VW Polo...

Chances are that the skis used by the pros are not that good for recreational skiing? Bit like using an f1 car for a run in the country?
Either way, I love my i Rallys
