Dear Collective Geniuses, one of the party in town this week would be very interested in custom boot fitting in Flachau - can anyone recommend anyone? We'd be very appreciative x

@always29, I don't know anyone who has bought boots in Flachau, but do know of people who have bought at the Skistadl over the road from the Grafenberg lift in wagrain and have been vert happy. You can get the bus from the bottom of the flying mozart or Rote 8 lift in Flachau or go across the G-link and ski down to the bottom of the Grafenberg. The owner, Siegi, was a friend of Samerberg Sue

I'd have to advise the nearby town of Altenmarkt, the Intersport Schneider opposite the Spar in the main street. Had some superb service there over the past 5 years, their main boot fitter for custom liners and adjustments is a WC race fitter who has worked on racing friends boots and has a nice series of 'Thank You' signed posters from the likes of Svindal, Neureuther (I think Hirscher too) and many other big names. A couple of the guys there are big tourers and have a wealth of knowledge of the latest touring and freeride boots. It's one of those places where they take a good look at your feet, make some measurements and pull out 2 - 3 boots that will suit your foot shape and ski requirements. Back up for tweaks etc is brilliant for the life of your boots.

If it's just pressure points most places can blow them out or do a small grind. Paying €70 - €80 for custom footbed suited to your arch profile can sort out a lot of problems too.

So the 2 who were having issues went to Altenmarkt. Both got boot tweaks and the issues are much improved.
