Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Berggasthof Sattelbauer

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Has anyone been to Berggasthof Sattelbauer in Flachau? I've read some reviews on google saying that you can toboggan down after eating. A few other questions, all comments gratefully received!

How long does it take to walk up to the restaurant from Starjet 1?
Is it possible to get a taxi to the restaurant?
Is it possible to toboggan down in the evening and if so, how long does the toboggan take?
Anyone know the opening hours and what's the food like?
Would I need to bring headtorches or is it lit?
Do they provide or can you hire toboggans at the restaurant? Can you leave at the bottom.

Many thanks!

@baronofthecourt, yes you can toboggan down in winter. It's a long walk up, so better to book a taxi which can be reserved when you book your table.

I cycled up to the Sattelbauer in the summer, it's a long way up! The sledge track is the go-kart track and it looked great fun. To answer your questions, it will take hours to walk up there, I'd say two or three, get a taxi. Sledge down umm, 20 -30 mins maybe. I've not eaten there but it has a fab reputation locally. I don't know if it's lit, other sledge runs that are lit are minimal/just enough. And yes, you will hire at the restaurant and yes, leave them at the bottom, it will be very obvious where to leave them. Also, if it's the same end location as the go-kart, which I assume it must be as it joins the road, then it's not quite at the bottom of the mountain and you will need to walk along the road back to the town, at a guess 10-15 mins to the town. Sledging is great fun during the day and at night, wrap up well, we wear full ski lift! Happy sledging! Ange

@baronofthecourt, the food is excellent. I only go in the summer and it's a regular lunch stop for me
