Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

May bank holiday Val Thoren v Val d'Isere

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi we're looking for 4 days skiing near Geneva over the May bank holiday as we aren't able to go any earlier this year. Considering Val Thoren or Val d'isere as lifts ar open until 1st May any views on which would be best that late in season appreciated? Also not the most experienced skiers I ski green/blue and partner boards whether either would be better suited to our ability. Thanks Smile

Val Tho.

The base is higher and flatter.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

When you say Val d'Isere, is Tignes an option? Same ski area Espace Killy, and higher, so presumably stays open to the same dates. If so, would be my preferred choice. Val Thorens is slightly higher, but to my mind not quite as well suited to green/blue runs skiers. If you stay in Tignes Val Claret, there's that nice green area off the top of Fresse that's just a chairlift away, and plenty of other cruisy blues within easy reach.

If you choose Val d'Isere, beware the blue run Santons back into resort, a blue in name only: plenty on here would prefer to ski one of the two blacks that head down instead!!

Val D'Isere shuts on May 1st. Tignes is open until the 8th. If you like skiing back to resort Tignes is a better bet and the resort will still have a buzz due to late events.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
