Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fonna

Has anyone skied at Fonna in Norway (http://visitfonna.no/en/)? Looks like a pretty small area but the season doesn't start until the end of April and apparently runs through to October. I am thinking of a long weekend there stopping in Bergen for a bit of a city break thrown in too. Good idea or a long way to go to ski on a bit of slush?

Not been, but it came up on a thread last year http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=2881504&highlight=fonna#2881504.

My guess is its more race and freestyle/park training rather than recreational skiing. I would expect the conditions are good. Target ski school run a summer ski course there. Bergen is a nice city and the west coast of Norway is spectacular in general. Would make for an interesting trip.

Thanks @themasterpiece, it would be an add on to the Bergen visit as opposed the main reason for going, if it's got a decent park I might take the snowboard instead of the skis then. Will report back if I take the plunge and book.

It is a limited summer skiing place on glacier terrain. But it is pretty cool for a day or two with spectacular views on the fiords below. Usually they make pretty decent jumps. Would be good to stay in Jondal if you are going for several days. A rental from Bergen would be good. Takes little more than 1 hour to drive to the ferry and then it is half an hour on a small (spectatular) road up to the lift.

Thanks @Woosh, part of the attraction is the scenery and the journey getting there, I've not done any summer skiing or boarding but for me it would be about the whole trip, not focusing on improving technique or nailing a trick in the park. I'll have a look at Jondal too thanks.
