Is there an equivalent of carre Neige (Soccorso Piste?) in Italy that can be purchased at the ski pass office? I did a search on this forum and only found one unanswered thread from 2009 with exactly the same question!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I looked at this a couple of years ago and couldn't find anything...
I believe 'slope to ambulance' is free in Italy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

They do offer insurance when you buy your pass. Not sure what it covers. (Sauze and Cervinia)

You'll need to Register first of course.

@Neville, my recollection, which is entirely fallible, is that my most recent accudent included a line item for being escorted off the mountain.

For the price, Monterosa sell an insurance for about €1.50 a day which frankly is worth saving the hassle.

I cannot pretend to be an expert but think it varies between regions. Last year I was in Alagna and we were told by our guide that if we injured ourselves it was better to do it on the Alagna side than the Gressony side, because in Piedmont recovery was free but in Aosta there was a charge.

@mini mo
We found that a lot of Italian resorts offer this when you purchase your lift pass at the lift pass office, however if you get your rep etc to pick up your pass then it is not normally offered, you personally need to attend in order to be offered this option

You know it makes sense.

In our area the insurance sold by the lift pass company (€2.5 per day) is basically to reimburse a person for their unused lift pass (max claim €500) and ski equipment (max claim €50) if they have an accident (on piste).
But ONLY if they:
Are taken off the slope by the piste rescue team (employed by the lift company).
They tell the rescue guys that they have the piste insurance at the time of the accident.
There is nothing in this policy, that I can see, which is not better covered in a standard holiday insurance policy.
Here is a copy of the policy (which may be different in other areas)
