Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We're skiing at half-term for the first time this year. Eurostar (kids are very excited) to Lyon and hire car from there. I'd usually bank on a bit over two hours for the drive Lyon to Oz en Oisans, but wondering how terrible the roads will be, leaving Lyon at 1pm Saturday? Not that I want to see the England game or anything... Toofy Grin

I think it will be very busy as two school areas of France will be on holiday. Once you get through Vizille it should be fine.

@howiet, is Vizille the place with the petrol station and supermarket on thre roundabout where you hang a right? Always get snarled up there.

There is snow due tomorrow then after that it's sunny so you should be fine at the weekend. Just remember your return to Lyon is 10 days away and we don't really know what the weather will be like.

Indeed! Have the option at the rental place for chains. We've been to Oz a number of times, but never needed chains - always found the roads cleared pretty quickly.

Roads were really busy last year so allow plenty time.
