So at 5.15am this morning BA cancelled our 8am LHR to Lyon. Lots of panic managed to book an 8.20 eurotunnel train, cancelled flights, cancelled hire car, transferred bags from one car to another, set off making it just on time.
Now on the a26 heading south toward reims, Lyon, and we've left a bag in the other car. Other than my jacket which I have, it has my entire ski wear in it. Boots, goggles, gloves, socks, helmet, thermals, brand new yet to be used Gore Tex trousers (Grrrrr) fleece, wrist guards impact shorts, and wife's gloves etc.
Boots I can hire or maybe buy (the old ones getting towards needing replacement) though maybe not at Courchevel prices, helmet I can hire. I might get by with a thermal top from my wife.
I need a (really) cheap place en-route to buy dirt cheap gloves, goggles &, ski/board trousers, for one off use (then spares) maybe thermals and fleece.
Any suggestions please ???

Decathlon - you'll spot one near a motorway exit. Open until 18.30 today (at least the one in Thonon is).

In Albertville there is also Au Vieux Campeur near the Decathlon store. There is also Ekosport in Frontenex near Albertville. I don't know whether they are open today though.

Thanks both. Snowheads saves the day again.
Pulled off and went to the Decathlon at Reims South. Some bargains to be had in there.
168 euros lighter I now have helmet, goggles, gloves, fleece, neck scarf, socks, and some winner 24 Euro ski trousers, plus some gloves for my wife and some bits for the kids. I could have spent a lot less but I bought decent goretex gloves 40 Euro) as I needed a new pair anyway, and got a reasonable helmet which my eldest will grow into in a year or so, so pretty good all round.
Mind you, the trousers look shocking and only 2000 waterproof and not breathable & no vents, but they'll do for a week, whilst my spanking new North Face goretex from Snow and Rock last week bask at home in a bag in the car!

@Gazzza, glad you got more or less sorted, but what a horrible start to a holiday!

@Gazzza, I saw the gloves in Thonon Decathlon this morning and very nearly weakened and bought them.
You might try keeping the receipt and billing BA. You never know........

Just think pre decathlon and having to shop in a resort shop you'd have been €500+ lighter. Glad you got sorted. If you need trouser vents, ski with the flies undone!

Super U in Salin-Les-Thermes (which is just past Moutiers and you will drive past on way up mountain to Courchevel) sells cheap ski gear.

@J9, Does it? I was in there yesterday and didn't see much in the line of ski gear.

You know it makes sense.

@skichampcouk, I was there a couple of weeks ago and they had a smallish section with jackets, salopettes etc. Maybe they have gone.

I was in a similar position a few years ago in Bourg st Maurice. There is a dirt cheep ski gear place on the main road in Bourg not long after the military barracks. My wife bought slalopettes for 10 euro, Jacket for 15 and the most expensive item, gloves for 20. It was Easter so no need for a hat and she had sun galsses with her. She hired skis and boots.

@J9, I'll have a proper look the next time I'm in, if it's in the clothing section I wouldn't have seen it.

J9, Mrs skichampcouk was in super U the other day and noticed lots of ski clothing and snow boots, just shows how observant I am.

Buy your boots in SureFoot in Courcheval. An expensive investment, but worth it!
Big Decathlon in Albertville for everything else!
Well done and "bonne route!"
