When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

... wait for it ... the Robin ski tow at The Lecht. This quote from the current 'General Situation' report on www.winterhighland.com:

Interestingly the Robin Tow has had skiable cover for some 22consecutive days since the day after boxing day thanks to snow making efforts, and has operated for 35days this winter. Sadly miles ahead of any other ski tow in Scotland!

That is, indeed, way more action than any of the 70+ other lifts across the five Scottish ski areas, the vast majority of which have been completely idle this winter.

It's turned out to be another miserable January for Scottish skiers, with plenty of sub-zero weather but precious little snow. Cairngorm is planning to reopen a couple of lifts at the top of the mountain this weekend, but that's about it. Glencoe and Nevis Range have yet to open a snow piste since the 2004-5 winter. Glenshee is currently shut.

Any optimistic snow forecasters out there? The sport's going to need snow very soon to avoid further financial stress for Scotland's ski mountains.
