Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

So, I haven't been skiing since I was a teenager, which feels like an age ago now, and now that we've had a baby, we really want to introduce him to this skiing world. But I wanted to get some advice for returners? Obviously I'm not going to be as good as I was when I was younger, but does anyone have any advice (or even warnings) about going back after quite a significant break?

Have lessons.
Take things easy.
Enjoy.
Welcome to SnowHeads.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would book a private in a snowdome such as Hemel. If you're not going this season I'd wait until March/April to do it as Hemel is v busy at the moment and its not great for your first time back on snow. I think a private lesson is the best bet as group ones can be a bit lacking in feedback (depending on who you use of course). I highly recommend the insideout guys as I expect most on here would too.
Good luck and welcome

@CStan
, yes welcome aboard, what level were you at as a teenager and how old are you now?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As someone who had a 27 year break between my forties and seventies I think you will pick it up surprisingly easily. As someone said on this forum "It's like riding a bike. You fall over a lot
" Seriously I found that modern skis compensated for the inevitable decline in skill. It all came back very quickly and the only thing I noticed was I had become more cautious/sensible.
To echo the advice given above I would recommend some lessons andI have arranged some for this season's trip
