Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Question on Dynafit Superlight - brakes

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am confused about my ski touring Dynafit Superlight bindings: I have used them for a few years, and now I bought a set of ski-brakes for them - the ones you are supposed to just "click-in" to the small pins on the side of the rear binding. Only problem is that I have the pins, but they are not sticking out - they are flush with the binding body. Anyone here who is an expert/ can explain what I need to do???

Sounds like the pins have been depressed a bit too far and they're caught up inside base etc or the spring could even be kinked/broken etc. Remove the heel from the ski and take a look at the underside of the base and the problem will be obvious.

Spyderjon, thanks for the reply.

I did take off the bindings and figured out the problem: I were my first touring bindings so my technique on the hill were not very good (poo-poo really), so I scratches the top edges on the skis a lot (when doing switch backs etc), and so it turns out also on the bindings themselves. So for the pins themselves, I had scratched the rear edge of the pin holes so much so that this created an edge that prevented the pin from coming out. (this is because I always skied without the optional brakes, exposing the holes to my ski edges).

All I had to do in the end was to carefully drill the edges of the hole with a 4 mm drill, so removing the little edge that had built up - and the pins popped out! Very good news!

Now we just have to wait for some snow. At this point, it is completely green everywhere, even in Val thorens! Last year, I did my first ski tour 15th November, unlikely to happen this year ... Shocked
