I'm on the cusp of booking a cheap room there. How long will the ski lift take to get to Wengen etc?
Will Gryon be a better choice?
Will I regret it?!

moot_point, The trains to Wengen took 17 minutes to the village, where you could walk through to the gondola up to Mannlichen or it took 45 minutes to Kleine Scheidegg. The trains ran about every 25 minutes or so.
The journey to Murren was marginally quicker.
We also had a bus (or 15 minute walk) at the Lauters end, and the ski - door time was at least an hour

Train up to wengen is around 15 minutes. Then a 200 meter walk to the Gondola and travel time from there is another 7 or so minutes to the Mannlichen.
Or you stay in the train up to Kleine Scheidegg, which is around 45 minutes from Lauterbrunnen.
Very very scenic, and the 2 weeks I have been there i never felt bothered about the travelling! Nor had the feeling it was 45 minutes (i was suprised when properly checking out the train planner)! the scenery is breathtaking.

I've stayed in Lauters a few time. What the guys say above is acurate, but just was not a problem at all, and never felt that long. HAve a good trip.
