Hi all
I am looking at booking a ski trip to borovets. We are looking at going on the 7th of January until the 14th. Does anyone know what the snow conditions will be like then? Anyone been in January? Places to go and what hotel to stay in? Any info will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Ryan

snow is anyones guess, but there are a lot of new snow cannons, so unless its stupidly warm the snow will be fine, early Jan will be quiet, we went towards the end of Jan this year and the snow was absolutely fantastic, that heavy that they couldn't set slalom courses up. if you need any help drop me line as we are over there regularly

From what i remember its not a high resort, and its not extensive, so if the temperature is low enough then the snow cannons may give some decent coverage, otherwise it could end up a false economy,.pick somewhere that has snow and is a better resort, i regretted going there. Id wait till the last minute anyway to book.. That week is usally the cheapest everywhere, as new year as finished and all are waiting for more snow..

If you have the snow its as good as anywhere and its cheap. Going in Jan & Feb but keeping an eye on the snow before booking. Have had 3 great years & 2 bad. Après is great crack, loads of places to party.

Definitely wait to book. Borovets tends to be better around March.

Went Jan two years ago, all runs were complete and snow cannons were going all week...which did make everything lower down rock hard.
The ski area keeps you entertained for a week but you'll be repeating runs by half way through the week. The town has a good atmosphere, you can find live music or DJs most nights. Cause things are so cheap we had a go on snowmobiles and loved them. All the hotels are nice for the money but stay away from the 5* hotels as however nice they look they are located furthest away from the lifts.
If that's the most your budget will stretch to book it. Wouldn't organise another trip there but Id go again if the right bunch of mates were going!

...and the transfer is nice and short too, round about an hour if I remember right!

i'd second Bobby's bar. Haven't been to Borovets for a few years but Kas who runs it is a great host. I remember the food in most restaurants were great, I personally wouldn't book a hotel with HB. Don't book at the Rila even though it is cheap. We stayed self catering at the Flora apartments that were very cheap and perfectly comfortable, if not luxurious.
