Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to look online for apartments/chalets in Austrian resorts?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi guys, I've been trying to organize a ski vacation with a group of friends for mid-January. We previously organized trips to Italy and France and didn't have much trouble finding a nice apartment/chalet to stay together.

This time, however, we want to go to Austria, and I've having a real hard time finding such places! I looked at the obvious websites, booking/airbnb/homeaway, and everything I find is either really really expensive (say >>1200 euro for 4 people) or far from the resort, and in general I find a lot less results than when looking at French/Italian resorts.

So what am I missing? Is this type of accomodation simply not as popular in Austria? Or am I looking at all the wrong websites and you're going to tell me where I should look instead... Smile

Thanks!

Local tourist information websites are the way to go in Austria.

Tourist info, send an email with your requirements and they'll send a list back of suitable places that are free on your dates.

Or else look on the website for the area, e.g. www.skiwelt.at/en

@chenav, Whereabouts in Austria are you looking?

I have paid 1000 euros in low season (post easter) for a 4 person apartment in Ischgl or 325 euros for a 2 person apartment in High Season (New Year week) in Zell am See.

Both were of a similar standard close to the slopes and quite central to the village. So you will find alot of regional variation. The best thing to do is contact the tourist information websites as said above and request local hotels and apartment owners to send you prices. (You will get MANY replies)

Here are a few options - Look out for "request accommodation" or "Non-binding enquiry" areas or alike.

chenav,

Welcome to Snowheads.

Over the past 2 winters Mrs B & I have spent approximately 120 nights (in over 20 resorts) in self catering apartments in the Tirol in Austria and have found accommodation readily available.

We usually book via www.booking.com or hotels.com but occasionally book through resort websites, such as those listed above.

The website that I use most is www.tiscover.com which I find has a good selection of self catering (and other) accommodation in Austria
