Probable early retirement this summer. Looking to spend next winter in the Alps. Possibly in Tignes or St Anton. Not sure which yet. Any advice for finding accommodation locally? Any help appreciated

@Mark1863, either on line or via Tourist office. Depends what you are after, but many people choose to stay in Petteneu where you should get a apartment/ room for 550/600€ per month. From there you can spend as much as you want upwards I guess! Or go out late November and ask about in the bars, there's plenty of options, the locals all know friends with rooms.

@Mark1863, for a whole season I think St Anton beats Tignes. The skiing in Tignes is good, but IMHO it's better in the Arlberg, and St Anton is also a much better place to live for a few months.

@Mark1863, You will not fins anywhere in St Anton that is cheap. Expect to pay the same as Tourists. Thats unless you can find a job which comes with a room.
Down valley has much cheaper options Pettneu,Schaan, Flirsch.

Echo the comments re being cheaper further down the valley, and if it makes any difference, single rooms are a lot harder to find in St Anton, you'd probably find you end up having to pay for both beds in the room for single occupancy. Think rent for a bed in a shared room was around the €600 per month mark in Anton. It cost me less than that for a single room in Pettneu with Internet, washing machine and car parking. Get in touch with the tourist office who can send you a list of season accom details and work your way through the list. Do be aware that the better places will already have gone, people started looking for next season before last winter had already finished...

Thanks all for the advice. Some work to do! Last week was supposed to be my last but they have looked at my contract and now realise that they have to pay me big bucks; but the end seems near!!

The bus from Alpe Rauz I think, but yes. It allows them to claim a bigger "connected" ski area, but the new lifts add no new skiing.

I understand that the "Blue" bus will no longer connect Zürs to Rauz. It will however continue to run between Zürs, Lech, and Zug. The yellow Post Bus will still run between St Anton and Zürs/Lech.
