Thinking of heading to Åre in Sweden next easter with the family just wondering the easiest way to get there from the UK?

Lots of ways. I think that the only direct flights to a nearby airport are LGW to Trondheim on Norwegian - the flight gets in very late, though. Lots of options with "changes" - KLM to Schipol, then KLM Schipol to Trondheim. Norwegian to Oslo, then Oslo to Trondheim.
I also think you can fly to Stockholm, and then fly to Ostersund ??? which is nearer to Are than Trondheim airport
Or fly direct to Stockholm and have a long drive

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Or the night train from Stockholm (even stops at Stockholm Arlanda) which leaves 9pm ish and arrives 7am in Åre. No cheaper than flying, but you get an extra full day of skiing.

We went from Edinburgh to Trondheim via Schipol with a fair wait between flights.
There were earlier flights (as we arrived in Trondheim after 11pm) but we only booked 2 months in advance so the price of the more sociable flight had gone up a lot. Sure you would get something with a better time if you booked early.
Both our flights were KLM

This year we flew Norwegian. 9.20am from Gatwick to Oslo, Oslo to Trondheim the Flygtaxi (Bus) from Trondheim to Are, we arrived around 430pm, we got a direct Trondheim to Gatwick on the way back. There is a rumour going around the resort that Easyjet will be doing a London Ostersund route next year, I hope it's not just a rumour.... Great little town, we keep going back there.

@francium., Easter is late next year.
Usually there is always snow on piste in Åre, but my daughter who has been there for many years during Easter has experienced quite green outside of pist when easter was late - not to speak of small animals on piste .

Due to late Easter as @Hyst mentions, we are planning to go further north to Hemavan Tärnaby.

We are going mid march so it's great for us. Shame it's not going from Manchester, but we are not complaining.

@thecramps,
We'll be doing Are at Christmas, we have relations in Trondheim for a stopover so SAS Manchester to Trondheim (Oslo short stop - beware you have to collect luggage and check back in for the internal flight), then 2 hours car to Are.

You know it makes sense.

@dvb, Not having relatives in Trondheim, we did Heathrow to Ostersund via Arlanda last year. No hassle at all, and very civilized arrival and departure times. Bags auto transferred at Arlanda, and transfer was about an hour by the flytaxi coach. We were going to do same again, but the easy jet flights seem cheap and being direct, it can only be a good thing. Maybe. Some trepidation flying with easyjet though.
