Poster: A snowHead
|
My family (two children - aged 3 and will be near Les Gets at the end of August/start of September and are seeking activity recommendations. There are plenty of suggestions on the Les Gets website, so I suppose I am seeking recommendations from personal experiences.
In particular it would be great to hear of a good, picturesque ski-lift accessible restaurant from which we can meander down the hill after lunch. We are also planning a trip to the swimming lake with the water slide!
Many thanks in advance.

La Paika is not very accessible from the Chavannes Express without a longish walk and maybe no good with a three year old. When we dropped by past it in early July they were having a private party on a Sunday and said that they open on Wednesdays, if the weather is good.
Lhottys will be open I think and that can be accessed by taking the Chavannes Express and walking uphill to it. Alternatively walk down from the top of that lift to the Croix Blanche, small hotel, which does decent food.
If you go up the Mt Chery gondola and then walk for about 45 minutes you can get to the Chevrelles which is at Mt Caly, definitely need to book there if it's a weekend. And check when the lifts are running as they stop fairly soon at the end of August.

I certainly do enjoy eating at La Paika, and will try to see if it is open next week when we are back there.

@anderoo, I think that is what I had said. They told me that they might open on Wednesdays if the weather is good. I would certainly check that if making a special trip to get there.

@Pamski, Yes just confirming. It's owned by the hotel Marmotte and there is a sign re Wednesday BBQ's. Anyone who fancies this I recommend popping into the Marmotte.

@simo1234, if your little ones would enjoy pony riding then I have just had s message from my daughter who is staying at our chalet this week and has had her daughter and friends up at Praz de Lys where there is pony riding by the Grande Ourse hotel. She said they had great fun and really enjoyed it. Maggie is three.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Thanks for all the responses - we will certainly dine well.
I'm sure pony riding will be part of the agenda!

Vafffieu is open Pamski.
There is a flat 4kmish round trip walk from the Mt Chery lift to the Chanterelle on Mt Caly which is a lovely restaurant.

You know it makes sense.
|
@MeMyselfandI, it's the Chevrelles at Mt Caly isn't it? The Chanterelle is at the bottom of Chery Nord, and that is open this summer.
We are in Austria at the moment on our way back to Les Gets for a few weeks.
