Good spot, quite unbelievable prices. I thought I had got a bargain last year, but I paid £100 more.

What are the differences between the Beast and the Radical 2 bindings? The former seem like a bit more hassle to install with boots etc.…?

Main differences are the higher DIN range and much higher elasticity in the heel (the toe is the same as the Radical 2 on the Beast 14)
Also a bit heavier, but worth it imo for the added security and smoother ride...

I thought the prices might have been a typo, but I've just received my dispatched confirmation mail
At those prices, it would have been rude not to.

@horizon, I'd go for the 16's, can't fault mine. I snagged a pair at 250€ too good to miss, they're out for delivery today. Will be sat on my subs bench for a year or two whilst I try to wear out my previous pair.

@clarky999 Got the Throwdown 105s. Had no intention of buying new skis, since I already have the Throwdown 110s, but Bosch is one of my favourite artists so it seemed like a sign…
And the 110s got a good bashing last season, so I suppose I needed new ones anyways and can use the 110s for poor coverage days…

OK school me on a tech boot that would work:
In a Marker Griffon/Duke as well as Tech - suggests non rockered sole
120+ flex
Wide last like 103mm in a 27.0

K2 Pinnacle 130, low rocker, but maybe not wide enough?
Atomic Waymaker Carbon 130, has swappable sole.
Scarpa Freedom RS 130, has swappable sole.

Tecnica Cochise works for me , interesting new ones coming out next season as well. Not sure how wide , but I need wide and they got punched to fit me 1st time.
Took the Beast heel piece pretty easily as well too.

The current Cochise (EpicTV had some great deals, but likely not in a 27) would work, the new is quite a bit narrower... Pinnacle should work though!

@skimottaret, the crampons are the same.
Unless you were using a toe shim on the Radical ST's, you might need to add a block to the back on the crampon to take into account the higher toe. Otherwise you will get reduced penetration, especially when using the heel lift.

I thought I'd comment on this thread as I've just received an email from a customer who bought a pair of Beast 14's off me a few months ago & who is now accusing me of ripping them off & is wanting some money back.
The story behind these super cheap prices (which are considerably below my cost price!) is that Dynafit recently made an exclusive offer to Sport Conrad for a quantity of Beast 16/14 bindings & Sport Conrad are now flippin' 'em with just a small mark-up. Dynafit did something similar a couple of years ago with Berzeit.
The Beast 16/14 models are strong sellers & are unchanged for next year so this is not a case of selling off discontinued lines etc. In fact I purchased all of Dynafits remaining Beast 14 105mm & 120mm stock at the end of last season (see below) so the Beast 14's being offered are recent production.
Whilst this is great for you guys in that you can get a pair of superb bindings for boogerall money it has totally screwed me (& all the other Dynafit dealers) over. Dynafit prices for 16/17 have gone up by 8% from last season (although they have hadn't an increase for a few years) so I purchased the majority of my 16/17 stock at the end of last season to get the old prices so I was expecting good things this coming winter. And, as stated above, I purchased all their remaining Beast 14 105/120mm bindings at the time. All the other dealers had to place their 16/17 order by the end of February for delivery this autumn so have already committed to their stock. BTW, last years factory prices were at £1/€1.25 & were hedged for the coming season so the recent drop in the sterling rate won't effect the cost of the bindings being shipped this autumn, although top-up orders shipped later in the season would be at the prevailing rate. This is pretty standard across the majority of manufacturers.
When Dynafit did the Berzeit deal a couple of years ago myself & the other dealers were up in arms & I had a number of heated conversations with Anatom who were the independent distributor in the UK for Dynafit. Anatom were genuinely equally aggrieved at the situation. Partly for this reason Anatom recently dropped the UK Dynafit distribution & it has now been taken over by Wild Country in Buxton. Wild Country, which are a specialist climbing hardware manufacturer with no experience in the snowsports market, are a Salewa owned business as is also Dynafit. So the UK distribution of Dynafit products is now effectly handled in-house by Dynafit.
Over the last few days I've had a number of heated conversations'n'emails with the new in-house distributors who must've wondered what $hit storm they've just walked in to as they'd expected to be talking to me about sales development for next season etc but instead they got an irrate scouse git f'in' at them down the phone.
My current feeling is that I want to tell them to stick their bindings were the sun don't shine, however from a commercial position I have to weigh up a number of factors:
- I am a Dynafit user myself & I genuinely think their products are excellent with each model being either better or equal to any other in its category
- I'm the UK's biggest Dynafit binding dealer (according to Anatom) & being a niche/specialist in a number of fields is my USP
- Their product/warranty support is very good
- I have a load of customers that are existing Dynafit owners that I want to continue to support
- I already have a shed load (literally) of Dynafit stock
To be fair, the new UK distributor is very sympathetic & they're currently fighting my corner & are trying to get me additional support so I can compete with these prices so I'm hoping to be able to post on here very soon that I'll be able offer the same deal.

@spyderjon, Sorry to hear this Jon, I'm one of the guilty as you know from our conversation the other day. Equally worse is the fact that I bought my original 16's in the previous Bergzeit deal.
You have my full support and i'll always buy from you if possible but could not ignore the SC deal.
Hope you get the above sorted with them, its unfair that they are not offering the same deal to all valued dealers imo.
See you soon for the QK's as discussed......

@spyderjon, Offer the grumpy feckers a 2 for 1 ski service, might drum up some new business? I'm sure you did them a good deal at the time, same as you did for me and they should take it on the chin, can't imagine being like that myself, but takes all sorts.........

@PowderAdict, Thanks, the main reason I bought new bindings was that the delta is 6mm with the Beasts compared to a huge amount of shimming that I (actually Jon) added on the radicals to make em skiable for me. Didn't didn't even consider the lack of crampon penetration until I needed em to work on an iffy climb one day and since then have been thinking about new touring binders. Didn't consider "shimming" the crampons as well but the whole setup was getting ungainly...
@jon rough one when a manufacture dumps stock like that, hope you get some flexibility from Dynafit as such a good customer.

@skimottaret, I didn't shim my Radical ST crampons, as I didn't need to use a toe shim. But I really had to use shims on my Beast 16's as the toe is a little higher, but the main difference is the higher heel position, even on the low position. Without shims there is no penetration when the heel lifters are used.
The Dynafit crampons come with pre-drilled holes, which I assume are designed for the purpose, but I decided to drill new ones closer to the pivot point. I found the perfect material in a kitchen chopping board, in that it is light, easy to work with and designed to withstand knife cuts for years (so being stepped on by a rubber boot sole won't wear them out).
These are my shims which are about 10mm thick, but they can be made any thickness:
For the extra observant, I made them slightly asymmetric, because my boots sole extend further to the outside edge.

@spyderjon, well done Jon, glad you've come out of this well. At that price you may well end up exporting most of them to German customers given the post Brexit state on the £!

@spyderjon, Glad you sorted it out. Usually a deal like that means that they are getting rid of some remaining old stock, but when a firm like Dynafit does that on a large scale without taking into consideration the network of dealers it does cause a lot of problems.

Hmmm... Was about to pull the trigger on some Rad 2s. Any feedback on the lack of flat walk mode on beasts? How unflat is it? I can walk with the heel lifts on my TLT speeds if it flat but it gets a but tedious after a while and really annoying if there are any downhill bits
