Poster: A snowHead

As a veteran of many holidays with Ski Olympic I was saddened to discover that they have made some serious cuts in their chalet offerings for the coming season. It looks like Les Avals in Courchevel 1650 is no longer offered, and nor are the 3 chalets they had in Reberty. They do have a couple of new chalets with a total of 21 beds in La Plagne which are marked as PREMIUM and priced accordingly.
All this is after them completely pulling out of Tignes a couple of years ago and Val d'Isere last year.
Does anyone know what's happening? Or is this just a normal cycle of chalet turnover?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

A bit of normal chalet changeover (leased) and some of the founder selling a chalet or two for retirement.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I had a preview brochure through the other week and I'm sure that the Reberty chalets were still in ... I'll check when I get home

I'm sure they we're still there when I got the email flyer in early May but now vanished.
Quite disappointed about Reberty as I've stopped with them there 3 times I think, nice situation and good chalets. Never got on with Les Avals, too big for a chalet hotel in my mind.
@chocksaway, I met both Bernie and Maggie on a number of occasions but nice people but very Yorkshire in there money awareness (and I can say that because I'm a true Yorkshireman as well)

@chocksaway, I have indeed! One year the coaches weren't running near us so Bernie himself came to pick us up in his Disco. That was many years ago mind.
The tent makers Hilleberg seem to have gone the same way now that the next generation have taken over.

@Big Dave, I have found that Crystal have also dropped some chalets from 1650. From what i gathered when I stayed in 1650 last season was they struggled to sell that particular chalet so i'm wondering do ski companies drop accommodation that does not meet their sale margins?
I'm no business expert just guessing.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Most of the TO's simply rent accommodation from local owners. They usually have a contract for a number of years and the owners will tout their properties around to get the best rental they can. Often you will find that if a chalet is dropped from one TO, it will be picked up by another. The TO's always 'dress up' the reasons for these changes by saying they are 'upgrading' their stock or dropping less 'good' chalets. It's all nonsense. Just marketing. If you want a particular chalet just check other TO's offerings.
