Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowsure near Geneva for a few days over eEaster

A colleague (my boss, in fact) is thinking about taking her 4 & 8 year old for their first skiing trip. She wants somewhere near Geneva, high up (to ensure resort level snow if possible) that's family friendly.

Any suggestions ? I was thinking somewhere like Les Saises or St Gervais. Is the fact that she's not going for a full week going to be an issue in terms of accommodation?

I don't think anyone would say St Gervais or Les Saises were high up, they've probably got good snow records though although I haven't looked at them recently.

If you're criteria are "high", "snow sure", "near Geneva" and "child friendly" then you're probably looking at Avoriaz or Flaine being your best options as the nursery slopes are right in the resort.

I wouldn't do St. Gervais. The beginner slopes and the aspect isn't very good for beginners.

Flaine or Avoriaz, of even Chamonix, if book near the kid slopes.

Call me crazy, but consider Verbier, there are some beginner slopes there, and in Swizterland, most kids 4 years old ski for free, and if you look around, you could find places where 8 year olds ski for free.

And if you want it all to be cheap and cheerful, consider popping through the tunnel to Courmayer. Italian prices Laughing Laughing Laughing That makes any parent happy! Plus Italian instructors are brilliant with kids.

Les Saisies has 200cm at village level, holds the snow very well, and is great for families with young kids. With snow levels as they are in this region and with Easter just around the corner, I don't think you have to worry about going 'high up'.

@HeidiAmsterdam, can you expand on this "I wouldn't do St. Gervais. The beginner slopes and the aspect isn't very good for beginners."

If they're considering Flaine, which I think is great for kids, the 4 year old will ski for free.

Hotel Totem does 'by the night' and appears to have availability. It's also very convenient with kids, who can slide straight out of the hotel, and within steps of the local restaurants.
