Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off piste (snowboard) guide in St Anton ?

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good off piste guide (to guide snowboarders) in the St Anton region. I will be up there next week so I want to book a guide for early in the week to check out what Anton/Lech/Zurs has to offer.

Diarmuid, check out www.ultimate-ski.com which we launched last week and you will find plenty on St A (and separately Lech-Zurs) within the main resort section and further information in the off-piste section. For safety reasons and route finding it's well worth hiring a guide. Thus far our contributors tend to be skiers not boarders (but we welcome boarder contributors too!), but think the off-piste information relevant. And be sure to visit Stuben! Feed back welcome. David Holyoak, Thanks I'll check that out .!! Do you think it would be necessary to book a guide before arrival. Esp as I am thinking of booking one for Sunday...

Yes, its always better to book. They have a big ski school which will be able to help you, but better than that I'd begin by contacting Graham Austick (Piste to Powder) who runs an excellent guiding business in St A and is one of our contributors. You will see reference to him in the St Anton advanced and off piste pages of our site and all contact details can be found in the Profiles section under Piste to Powder. Graham is a skier but has 5-6 other guides working with him and will probably not mind whether you on one plank or two. In any event he will advise you best alternatives.
