Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Meribel/Brides - couple of questions please

 Poster: A snowHead

Hello Snowheads!

We're currently en route to Brides les Bains for the week and would be grateful for a little help with the following please:

1) We're staying in Brides and would really rather not get back to our digs each lunchtime, so what options are available for decently priced sarnies, pizza, etc at lunchtime either in 'downtown' Meribel or elsewhere in the valley?

2) There is a red (blue on some maps) marked from Meribel down to Les Alluses. My experience of these kind of runs is patchy, quite literally, so can anyone say how it is at the moment?

Many thanks

1. Loads of options. Check out the famous Mountain Burger in Mottaret.

2. Closed to Les Allues, patchy to Raffort at the moment.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@stebes42, welcome to snowHead
As @snowrider, says lots of lunchtime options in Meribel or all over the 3V. Plenty of places offer paninis, filled baguettes (le sandwich), crepes etc. at decent prices. There's a new place in the centre of Meribel called Elderflower Fizz which is doing very reasonably priced food and even picnics to take up the mountain. You certainly wouldn't want to go back down to Brides every lunch time. If you go into Meribel itself for lunch either lock your skis to one of the racks in the Chaudanne or take them with you! Also it's worth remembering that it's perfectly acceptable in France to have just one course in a mountain restaurant. So if the weather isn't great you can just go and have a bowl of soup.

Lots of mountain restaurants have adjoining takeaway/snack bars to cater for the market who only want a quick bite.

The run down to Raffort will be very patchy indeed after today's rain! Definitely not worth the effort at the moment. But more snow due over the next week so all that could change.
Have a great week!
