Poster: A snowHead

We have booked a long weekend in Cortina, we were in Madonna earlier this year, and loved it, but dh wants to just do another resort so has chosen Cortina. It looks like it has a super area for skiing, has anyone that has been there got any tips on runs not to be missed, or any other advice.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The women's downhill run (Olympia 35?) is pretty good fun, even if you are not confident to take on the steep, icy chute near the top, since there's a diversion for less good skiers.
I'd spend one day on that side of the town and another on the Faloria side. Both have good tree level runs and also higher, more challenging stuff.
There will be some bus action at the beginning and the end of the day to get to the uplift, but it's not too bad.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cheers for that, steep and icy isn't a problem, can you ski home to the village? I love the ski home resorts.

Not really. Cortina is a big town, (according to Wikipedia 9000 or so population), so you are likely to need to get one of the small yellow ski buses to and from your accommodation and around the various uplift points. We didn't find it to be too much of a problem.
If steep and icy isn't a problem then you need to add in two must-do runs. On the Tofana side, if you take the cable car all the way to the top there's a black that brings you down the front of the cliff that you go over on the cable car. On the Faloria side of Cortina, if you work your way across to an area called Rio Gere, there's a long black that goes under the chairlift in a gully just below a couloir.
