Poster: A snowHead
|
I've recently had some skis back from being serviced and the edge of one of the rear tips seems to have been filed away (see pic in link below).

I'm speaking to the servicer and trying to get to the bottom of it so will keep things private but can any s offer suggestions as to what might have caused it?
Thanks in advance!

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Are you sure it wasn't like that when you took it in? A close-up look at the edge (picutre?) should enable you to tell whether it is fresh or has been like that for a while.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@RobW, I did wonder but the filed edge is shiny and clean in contrast to the duller surroundings.

@narbs, Do you now what sort of service/tuning machine the company uses? It has the appearance of being lent/dropped on the grinding belt.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@PowderAdict, I think it's an industrial stone and belt machine.

@narbs, ….looks like a heavy impact has pushed the edge in - and then the base, which tends to concertina when the edge is pushed in, has been ground out? weird. Is the top cap/surface of the ski bulging at all? That would indicate an impact. I really don't think it's a question of the edge being ground away since the metal does not extend that far back on a Line ski (they are Line's aren't they?).

+1
By hand that wouldn't be an accident, it would take some effort
