Poster: A snowHead
|
I just got my new Level Halfpipe gloves in the post, size 8 (medium)...all good, except they look huge!
I know they have the built in wrist guards so will be on the bulky side anyway, but how do I know with gloves if they should be slightly smaller or not?
There is no danger of them coming off easily, I.e. the velcro fastens securely.
Does sizing matter that much, or as long as they aren't going to fall off should I simply not worry about it?

If they are too tight, you need a larger size.
If they are too loose, you need a smaller size.
If they fit just right then you are Goldilocks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Why didn't I think of that
I think they are just bulky rather than loose, definitely unlikely to come off, but they just seem so big!

A sales woman in a posh shop in ischgl told me it's about the amount of space around your longest finger they even had a special finger measuring tool. But she told me to pinch the top of the glove of the longest finger and if you can pinch more than half a centimetre it's too big. Not sure if this was a sales ploy but it sounded good

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I tried your technique and reckon I can pinch about 1cm...but there seems to be plenty of padding...so I couldn't physically ever pinch less than 0.5cm I think.
So plan b...

Using that technique I got 8 inches....
Which perfectly matches the sizing of the gloves, so I guess they are correct and it's just the design that makes them seem big!

If there's too much material over the palm then it'll ruck up when gripping your pole

+1
Also, grip something the same diameter as a ski pole. Then if any finger has more than about 5mm slack at the end they're too big, if any finger is pushed hard up against the end of the glove they're too small. Too small is worse than too large because the pressure of your finger against the end of the glove will reduce blood supply (where you need it most).
